Shalom Synagogue is one of the central historic synagogues of Kemeraltı. It is also known as El Kal de la Tromba, the Tulumbalı Synagogue, and later as the Aydınlılar Synagogue after Jews from Aydın.

History
The synagogue is linked to Chief Rabbi Joseph Escapa, who led communal life in Izmir from 1620 onwards. Escapa gave religious education to the young Sabbatai Zvi and later took the lead in expelling him from the city once Zvi declared himself the Messiah.
Shalom was the only synagogue that came through the great fire of 1841 undamaged. Although built on a central plan, its Tevah was moved in 1939 to stand in front of the wall opposite the Ehal.
What to notice
Shalom is noted for the authenticity of its interior: an engraved ceiling and floral cushioned benches along the walls give it the feel of a traditional Anatolian house. It is often described as one of the most authentic synagogues in Izmir.
